Presenting the Indix Sun Care Category Report

The warmth of the sun is enticing after a long and dreary winter. As we head to the beach, we fish out our sunscreen bottles from last summer. However, due to the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays, the American Academy of Dermatology says we should use sunscreen all year long. Yes, whether it’s aging, burning, or prevention against cancer, sunscreen is a strongly recommended part of our daily skin care routine.

Given these facts, what are the different choices on the market? What does the current assortment look like? How does sunscreen pricing vary between brands?   • Chemical sunscreens comprise 81% of the market, as opposed to physical sunscreens.
  • Banana Boat, Neutrogena, and Coppertone are leading drugstore brands.
  • Some brands impose a “Baby Tax” while others impose an “Adult Tax.”
