It’s the beginning of a new year. 2015 was a busy and productive year here at Indix, and we are heading full throttle into 2016. We wouldn’t be where we are without our team of superstars. So we wanted to start the year by putting the spotlight on one of our employees.
Meet Bharath Raja. He sketches, animates, plays music, loves animals and is also a super software engineer. We sat down with Bharath to learn more about him.
What is your role at Indix?
I own the experiences, design and user interface for Indix applications.
What did you do before Indix?
I interned here when I was in college. This is my first job!
Why did you join Indix?
Because the people here are awesome. The culture was a big selling point. Also, I was moved by how much people care about the things they code and build. I was able to relate to that.
What have you learned working for a startup?
I don’t know a lot of startups, but I’ve learned a lot from Indix. I’ve learned how transparency helps in fostering a peaceful and open work environment. I’ve also learned how to work with a team (I used to be a lone wolf), and how to encourage new ideas and be realistic about them. With respect to technology, you get to work on multiple things. There’s so much I’ve gained in that area.
What technologies or trends get you most excited?
I’m currently in awe of virtual DOM technology through which one can reduce the rendering done in the browser by a huge degree. React is the most popular implementation of this technology.
What do you do for fun?
I used to play a lot of Dota. I love pencil sketching, especially when I’m upset. These days, I’ve been enjoying long motorbike rides. Check out some of my favorite shots from recent adventures below.
What is your favorite technology product?
The browser. This is what brings the information from all around the world to your device. This product is like the first-gen computer of the next generation.
How would your friends describe you?
Crazy (solid), chaotic, genuine, adventurous.
