New Hire Spotlight: Swathi Ravichandran, UX Designer

Through our New Hire Spotlight blog series, we want to share insights from our hiring process and shed light on the rockstars that strengthen our team.

Meet Swathi Ravichandran. A super talented singer and dedicated runner, Swathi brings precision, discipline, and energy to everything she does. Since joining Indix, she has initiated the formation of the Indix band and lots of other fun team activities, which she will tell us about in future posts. How long have you been working at Indix?
I have been with Indix for over 9 months.

What first attracted you to want to interview with Indix?
Indix was making news around March 2014 with a new round of funding. I was inquisitive to know more about them and one thing led to another. Within my limited resources and understanding, I liked what they were into. That got me excited to approach the rockstars at Indix, seeking an opportunity.

What about the interview process helped convince you that Indix is the place for you?
“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”

As suggested by the quote, I felt involved throughout my interview process and all credit goes to Sri Devi, Prasanna Murugavel (HR team) and particularly Praveen Selvam (Director of Design Engineering), who is one of my mentors at Indix. He has been a great source of inspiration since my interview days and facilitated my decision to join Indix.

Also, as a designer, I instantly connected with the open workspace including its bright colors, carefully chosen artifacts, paintings, mural artwork, quotes, meeting room names and the like. The vibe felt good and there was no looking back since then.

If there was one word to describe how you felt when you got your offer, what was it? Why did you choose that word?
Ecstatic. Because that’s what I felt at that point in time.

If you had to describe the whole process in one or two words, what would it be?
Meticulous and fun.

If you could give advice to future candidates on how to best prepare for and handle interviews at Indix, what would you tell them?
Be yourself.

What did you learn about the team and culture at Indix during your interview process?
“We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.”

During my interview process, I could gather that folks at Indix were a passionate tribe, solving complex problems. And they were kind enough all along, to let me be part of this tribe, if I wanted to do so.
