Staying true to our team spirit and fun-loving culture, Team Indix had a great time at the annual retreat this year. We hosted the outing at Radisson Temple Bay resorts, Mamallapuram, near Chennai. It was the perfect time for all of us to celebrate together as one group. The resort is very picturesque with lush greenery all around and hop skip and jump away from the beach. We stayed at villas made in contemporary style, overlooking the swimming pool. It was an absolute visual delight!
We made it to the resort by 2pm on Friday afternoon, May 27th. Given our Hawaiian Luau theme, it was only apt that we were given a Hawaiian welcome at the resort, including a cool welcome drink and a garland made of shells. After checking in, we assembled at an indoor auditorium for games planned by the organizing team. They worked very hard to make the retreat a memorable one. The event was kicked off with a small ice breaker for recent hires. We did the customary ritual of organized hazing session with a games of “Two Truths and a Lie.” It was great fun!
The group was split into three groups for the rest of the planned events. First, there was a group dance session where the teams were given 15 minutes time to prepare and dance on a song. It turned out to be absolute fun as the teams took to the challenge and delivered their dancing best. Every person in the group had to shake a leg, and the dance session helped the team get together and bond as a group.
Following the group dance, we had a very lighthearted game trying to keep a balloon suspended in air. Each team member had 90 seconds to carry out multiple tasks while making sure the balloon didn’t touch the floor. Next, there was a blindfolded feeding game. Two blindfolded members per team had to feed each other big rasagullas from a bowl. OMG, we never knew people could eat so much in so little time!
We took a group photo in our cool new Indix hoodies.
We then took the party outside. Indix boys had a good time playing cricket and the ladies took to beach throwball and volleyball. Playing near beach area with a gentle breeze blowing in was super relaxing and enjoyable.
After wrapping up the games session, we headed back to our rooms to get ready for the Hawaiian Luau on the beach-side lawn. Folks were dressed in their Hawaiian best, and took full advantage of the photo booths we had set up, over a great spread of food and drinks.
Swathi, one of our professional trained singers, kicked off the cultural night and set the tone for the rest of the evening. This was followed by amazing dance performances by the team. Hats off to the team that pulled off a great effort with much ease! They had limited time and space to practice in office; however, they showcased their dancing prowess with well-coordinated moves and timing. They were an absolute delight to watch and a big shout out for their commendable performance.
No party is complete without karaoke, and the Indix band performed as well. The best part was that folks on the floor joined the karaoke and made it a musical delight. The dance floor was open after the events and our in-house DJ played some amazing numbers that made everyone shake a leg. Overall, it was a very eventful evening – great music, drinks, food and the sea breeze to go along!
Next day morning was laid-back with people planning their own downtime. While some of us enjoyed a good swim, others opted to chill out in their rooms. We concluded the retreat with lunch and headed back to Chennai with loads of memories about the beautiful two day sojourn.
The retreat was a much needed break to rejuvenate ourselves and also drift away from the routine pressures at work. While everyone thoroughly enjoys every bit of challenge at work, some off to relax, unwind, and bond with team members is quintessential to keeping up energy and focus. We loved the events. It made us ONE team and this “GroupThink” will take us miles in our journey towards excellence.
