Meet Vinoth Kumar, software engineer par excellence. Beautiful code is his mission. He believes that programming is more an art than science. We sat down with Vinoth to learn more about him.
What is your role at Indix?
Developer. I have worked on lots of different things here. I started out writing some backend systems for our web app. Following that, I was working on a system that finds out product information from any e-commerce page. I’m working in the data ingestion team right now. Currently, we are trying to scale our data ingestion systems.
What did you do before Indix?
Before Indix, I was at ThoughtWorks. It’s an amazing company driven by philosophy and great people. I learned a lot there.
Why did you join Indix?
Primarily because I wanted to try out something different from writing web apps. I like to keep myself stimulated with challenges all the time, and Indix has allowed me to move on to different interesting problems.
What have you learned working for a startup?
Ownership. This is something that’s very very important for everyone in a startup.
What technologies or trends get you most excited?
Massively online multi player games. The scale and the QoS guarantees that these guys have to provide for a good experience is mind blowing.
What do you do for fun?
I play computer games, mostly strategy games. Very addicted to DOTA2 right now.
What is your favorite technology product?
Valve’s Steam – the game platform. I can’t even think how they pulled out such an amazing product that works like a charm most of the time at such a scale.
How would your friends describe you?
Lazy and honest.
