Meet Rajesh Manikka – a software engineer who loves data, especially how visualizations can convey the power of data. Besides being a data warrior, he also dabbles in art, music, writing, and photography. We sat down with Raj to learn more about him.
What is your role at Indix?
I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to try out different roles across various teams at Indix. I’ve been part of data engineering, analytics, data science, and platform teams respectively. Currently, I’m contributing to the development of a scheduler for our web crawler which can effectively maximize freshness and coverage.
What did you do before Indix?
I was a technical analyst in the research and development division at Mobius Knowledge Services, Chennai.
Why did you join Indix?
I loved the culture, the team, and the problem space. Also, I saw plenty of opportunity to learn and grow.
What have you learned working for a startup?
Every day is a school day. 🙂
What technologies or trends get you most excited?
Internet of Things, for its ability to connect our entire world to the internet. Imagine how efficient our lives can become by analyzing the data we collect from these small devices.
What do you do for fun?
I cook, jog, read manga/comics/fiction, play FPS/adventure games, and sketch/paint. I also have a technical blog. You can check it out here.
What is your favorite technology product?
The automatic wrist watch. It’s a perfect example of high precision and self-reliant engineering which serves its purpose without any maintenance (or minimal maintenance, if required). My dad has owned an automatic watch for 40 years and it is in perfect condition. That’s value for money!
How would your friends describe you?
Simple and quiet person with an interest in computers and business.
