Meet Sesha Sendhil Subramanian, one of our software engineers par excellence. A computer science engineer by training, he brings passion, immense energy, and a commitment to solving hard problems. We sat down with Sesha to learn more about him.
My role is to make our wealth of product information searchable and return the most relevant results. I also work as part of a team that generates derived data to power the real-time insights on different sets of products, brands, stores, and categories.
What did you do before Indix?
Indix is my first job. Prior to this, I was a Computer Science undergraduate at the National University of Singapore.
Why did you join Indix?
The people, the vision, and most importantly, the endless potential to keep learning from the multitudes of challenges that lay in our way. Another huge reason is the amount of responsibility I saw myself getting, and the contributions that I could make. Getting to see how something you built makes someone’s life easier is an exhilarating experience. I wanted in on it. 🙂
What have you learned working for a startup?
I have always believed that it’s important to be adaptable to change. Spending almost a year at Indix has shown me just how important that is. I have seen our product evolve constantly with user feedback. Assumptions were thrown out and things were reworked from scratch.
Yes, you put in more effort at a startup than at your average job. However, when you work on something you believe in, you give your heart and soul to it. Perhaps the most interesting thing about this is that it doesn’t feel like work and is super fun.
What technologies or trends get you most excited?
This keeps changing mostly. Currently, I am really excited about the onset of connected cars. I am also always excited about breakthroughs in our understanding of the universe.
What do you do for fun?
I love to go on long drives. It’s exhilarating and relaxing at the same time. I play tennis and enjoy the competition that comes with a great opponent. The Mahabharatha is my favorite epic. Every time I read it, there seems to be a new perspective and a new situation I can relate to.
What is your favorite technology product?
The smartphone. It really is the Swiss army knife of technology products.
How would your friends describe you?
Creative, smart worker, someone who strives for perfection. Also, he prefers personal interactions even though he loves technology.
