Employee Spotlight – Peter Finkelman, Director of Sales

Meet Peter Finkelman, our Director of Sales. Peter is a Texas born, Seattle at-heart, resident. He spent a few years in Aspen, Colorado after college to pursue his passion for skiing. Peter brings great relationships and rich experiences from the brand and retail industry. We sat down with Peter to learn more about him.

What is your role at Indix?

My responsibilities at Indix are multifaceted with a main focus on direct sales. As part of a SaaS company, my key goal is to reach out to brands and retailers that maintain an online presence. Product Intelligence is a somewhat new idea to many, so building relationships and trust is vital to what I do. I believe that education is key in allowing a prospective client to realize the high value in our platform that will ensure significant ROI for a brand or a retailer when considering the bottom line.

What did you do before Indix?
For the last decade I worked at and eventually co-owned a sales agency that represented multimillion dollar, global brands with top line retailers including Merrell Footwear, Marmot, and K2. I helped direct a portfolio of 10 market leading outdoor and lifestyle brands for in-store and online retailers. I have been fortunate enough to work side by side with some of the best thinkers in the market.

Why did you join Indix?
Over the last several years, I’ve watched the traditional retail model change in front of my eyes. I knew that I wanted to be a part of something exciting that combined the worlds of retail, brands, and technology. I also knew that the world of big data was where our future was going. Indix nailed the data model. The Indix team, and their strong philosophy on openness, collaboration, and moving together towards a single goal was what truly drove me to join the company. It’s a special place.

What have you learned working for a startup?
If someone shows you something new that could change how the world uses information for the better, you’d say…show me more. But, pioneering this change can be highly challenging and each day is different from the previous day. Could you ask for anything better? In Latin, Technology Startup = Patient Success.

What technologies or trends get you most excited?
My infatuation for technology started with in the 1970’s with Atari, then the VCR, now, I’m seriously dating myself. I have always been a sucker for a technology trend. Today it is all about “the cloud.”

What do you for fun?
If the sun is out and the weather is nice, you can find me road biking or boating. But when snow is falling in the mountains, I’m usually working hard to get on the slopes to snowboard. However, when I’m with my wife and two boys – that’s when I’m having the most fun (and if we can all be snowboarding- all the better!)

What is your favorite technology product?
Any tablet as it is a great educating tool and also keeps kids happy on long road trips!!!

How would your friends describe you?
Loyal. Fun. Honest. A thrill seeker…oh, and he likes a good bourbon.
