Employee Spotlight – Jananee Hemanth, Software Engineer

Jananee Hemanth is a software engineer who believes that programming is both an art and science. Her thirst for knowledge and challenges led her to the analytics team at Indix. We sat down with Jananee to learn more about her.

What is your role at Indix?

I work in the Analytics team. We generate meaningful insights from product data. We are in the process of building an in-house distributed system that would have the ability to handle billions of products.

What did you do before Indix?

I was at GlobalScholar and United Online before Indix where I got to work on some interesting websites and products.

Why did you join Indix?

The idea of working at a startup excited me. The vision to be the world’s largest product database is what hooked me in completely. I was so excited about the technologies we are using and the potential for Indix to be the technology leader in its space. Joining Indix was one of the best decisions I made with respect to my career.

What have you learned working for a startup?

That you can never stop learning. You get to wear multiple hats and there is always a new challenge, an interesting problem to be solved. You learn to work with chaos. You will be surrounded by smart, dedicated and passionate people and you will learn something from every one of them regardless of their experience levels.

What technologies or trends get you most excited?

Smart homes. I dream of the day when I can control everything from the intensity of the lighting to the programming of my oven through my smartphone.

What do you do for fun?

I love to immerse myself in a good book or a movie. I enjoy spending time with my family and love visiting places with a rich history.

What is your favorite technology product?

My most favorite ever is the smart phone. It is the ultimate converged device and I am curious about what the future holds for it.

How would your friends describe you?

Simple, a woman of few words and a dreamer.
