Meet Balasubrasubramaniyan R, a Software Engineer at Indix. When you’re trying to collect and structure the world’s product information, you need a team of passionate and dedicated developers. Bala likes to travel and explore different parts of the world, as much as he likes to tackle daily coding tasks. We love having him on the team, and sat down to learn more about him and his work.
What project are you working on currently? What excites you the most about it?
I’m working on a new version of the Firestar tagger, which provides a more concise way of storing information (product data in our case), thereby making lookup/analytics easier and more effective. The most exciting part is the possibilities it will open up once it becomes a part of our existing systems.
What is the most rewarding part of being on your team?
Visibility on all the systems/teams at Indix and the opportunity and potential to make their life easier by building useful and simple tools.
What drives you to come to work in the morning?
The iMac, the carrom board, and the well-stocked pantry 😉
What’s the most exciting and challenging part of working for a startup?
Exciting part: The people, culture, requirements and having hard problems to crack.
Challenging part: Solving the problems at hand.
What inspires you about the vision and mission of Indix?
The size of the data we want to aggregate, the speed at which it must be processed, and the technology these two issues demand is what inspires me.
What does a typical work day look like for you?
Work, play, eat. Repeat. 😀
How do you balance your work and personal life? What do you do for fun?
I play football, go on unplanned trips with friends, watch movies, and read.
